November 29th marks Giving Tuesday, a global day of doing good. It encourages people to give back to communities and organizations to help transform the world!

This holiday season, let’s give back and make a difference. On Giving Tuesday we are trying to raise $10,000 in order to eliminate gender-based violence meted against elderly women accused of witchcraft in Ghana.

By making a donation today, you will help us stop the persecution of vulnerable elderly female farmers, who are accused of witchcraft. For just $100 you could provide one meal to an elderly woman and her children. This means that if we reach our goal, we will provide almost 200 elderly women and their children with a meal!
Why your donation matters this #givingtuesday
A quiet, but widespread act of gender-based violence in Ghana is the abuse of elderly women who are suspected to be witches. This harmful cultural practice is perpetrated mostly in Northern, North-East and Savannah Regions of the country. Women are accused of witchcraft to explain the misfortunes that happen in their families and society. They are often subject to verbal and physical assault, discrimination, stigmatization, disinheritance, isolation, and threats to their lives. Suspected witches are banished from their homes and communities, accompanied by their children or grandchildren.
